SACRAMENTO - Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) introduced Senate Bill 379, the Equitable and Inclusive UC Healthcare Act, which ensures that University of California Health System (UC Health) contracts with healthcare facilities that allow UC staff practicing in those facilities to provide a full range of healthcare services, including reproductive and gender-affirming care. UC Health has entered into healthcare facility contracts that subject UC providers to harmful non-clinical restrictions limiting the kinds of services they provide to patients.

Sacramento, Calif. — State Senator Josh Newman (D-Fullerton) introduced legislation today to end the dangerous practice of imposing performance quotas on pharmacists based on profit, not health outcomes.
Under the provisions of SB 362, pharmacies in California no longer will be permitted to impose such quotas on prescriptions or services conducted by a pharmacist. Instead, licensed pharmacists will retain sole discretion in determining the appropriate amount of time required to fill each prescription and provide conscientious care to their patients.

SACRAMENTO – This morning, Senator Steven Bradford (D-Gardena) issued this statement in response to the Committee on Revision of the Penal Code publishing its first annual report. The Committee was created on January 1, 2020 to study the California Penal Code and recommend statutory reforms. The Committee’s report includes several recommendations to reform California’s criminal justice system.
