SACRAMENTO – With the impact of COVID-19 deepening and the May Revision of the state budget on the horizon, Senate President pro Tempore Toni G. Atkins (D-San Diego) joined Governor Gavin Newsom, Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood) and Assembly Republican Leader Marie Waldron (R-Escondido) in sending a letter to U.S. Congressional leadership, asking them to authorize $1 trillion in direct and flexible relief funding to states and local governments.

Orange County, CA - Today, Senator Thomas J. Umberg (D - Santa Ana) issued a letter to the Orange County Board of Supervisors calling on them to put partisan posturing aside and fight side-by-side with state representatives to better ensure a fair share of the state’s resources in light of the current unprecedented global challenge brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, state representatives of the Orange County delegation are working with Sacramento to secure necessary resources to protect public health and safely and reopen our economy.

Sacramento, California - Each year, the California Legislature recognizes the accomplishments of outstanding women during Women's History Month.  This year, the ceremony was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. 

GARDENA, CA –Senator Steven Bradford (D-Gardena) played an instrumental role in securing a donation of $25,000 to the Gardena Carson Family YMCA through a grant from the crisis Response Community Relief Project of Phillips 66.

The grant will support the YMCA’s following COVID-19 relief efforts: Farm Fresh Produce to low-income families and seniors, Grab-and-Go Food Programs, Blood Drive, Essential Supplies to low-income residents and Child Care for first responders.
