Bill to Protect Dying Mesothelioma and Silicosis Victims Signed into Law

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Senator Bill Monning (D-Carmel) issued the following statement about the Governor’s signing his Senate Bill (SB) 645, which limits the timeframe victims of mesothelioma or silicosis may be deposed by defendants.

“I am pleased to see that Governor Newsom shares my commitment to protect victims of mesothelioma and silicosis during the deposition process,” said Senator Monning.  “Without these time limits, marathon depositions will continue to inflict undue emotional and physical harm on these victims during their final days of life.”

Assembly approves Wieckowski bill to protect consumers with mortgages from abusive debt collectors

Lawmakers Pass Sen. Dodd’s Insurance Adjuster Bill

SACRAMENTO – The Legislature today approved a bill from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, that would eliminate the confusion and delays caused by uninformed, out-of-state or multiple insurance adjusters during the 2017 North Bay wildfires.

Senate Bill 240 requires the California Department of Insurance to produce information on the most significant state insurance laws related to disasters and set training standards for agents handling catastrophic events. It also mandates that insurers provide a single point of contact for customers to make processing claims easier.

Jojo's Act by Senator Hill Passes Senate, Heads to Governor Newsom for Consideration
