Sen. Dodd: Virtual Town Hall on Climate Change, Environmental Stewardship & the Drought

SONOMA – Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, will host a virtual town hall Sept. 21 on climate change, environmental stewardship and the drought featuring a panel discussion with top state natural resources and conservancy officials.

The town hall will be streamed live over multiple channels and broadcast on KSVY Sonoma. Panelists will take live and submitted questions.

Who: Wade Crowfoot, California Natural Resources secretary; Joaquin Esquivel, chair of the State Water Board; and Jay Ziegler, director of external affairs for The Nature Conservancy.

Sen. Dodd Secures $5 Million for Hwy. 37 Improvements

SACRAMENTO – Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, announced today he has secured $5 million to help reverse the effects of climate change and sea-level rise along Highway 37.

“Global warming has triggered a dangerous rise in tidal waters across the San Francisco Bay and that’s now threatening a vital commuter route,” Sen. Dodd said. “This funding helps us address the environmental degradation of our wetlands and advance improvements to this critical transportation artery. These investments bring us closer to creating a sustainable and less congested roadway.”

Sen. Dodd Lauds Passage of Controlled Burn Insurance Fund

SACRAMENTO – Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, today lauded the Legislature’s approval of a $20 million pilot program he promoted to expand the use of controlled burning to prevent wildfires. The investment comes as Sen. Dodd’s own Senate Bill 332, which also would advance the use of the proven firefighting tool, won legislative approval and awaits a signature from Gov. Gavin Newsom.

SACRAMENTO – The Legislature today approved a bill from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, to assist restaurants struggling to recover from the pandemic by permanently allowing the sale of to-go cocktails as part of take-out food orders.

“Restaurants have been hit hard by the pandemic and the ability to sell carry-out cocktails has been critical to ensuring they can survive,” Sen. Dodd said. “Making this permanent will ensure their recovery, protecting jobs and our economy. I thank my fellow legislators for supporting this important proposal.”
