SACRAMENTO — Governor Gavin Newsom signed legislation Thursday that boosts California’s fight against historic and worsening drought conditions. Senate Majority Leader Robert M. Hertzberg's (D-Van Nuys) Drought Resilient Communities Act (SB 552) strengthens drought preparedness in small and rural communities often on the front lines of drought.

SACRAMENTO – Senate President pro Tempore Toni G. Atkins (D-San Diego) released a statement today following Governor Gavin Newsom signing into law SB 1, the Sea Level Rise Mitigation and Adaptation Act of 2021, which would provide tools and resources for communities to address the impacts of sea level rise:

I know we can lead with tech in a way that advances humanity and do so in a way that does not negatively impact worker health safety. Unfortunately, that’s not happening today in many of our warehouses. AB 701 is about righting the warehouse industry as a whole and restoring the dignity of workers in our equations for success through innovation. AB 701 will help us stop the race to the bottom.

SACRAMENTO – Seeking to end delays that allow corporations to put off the arbitration claims of their workers and consumers, Governor Gavin Newsom today signed SB 762 by Senator Bob Wieckowski (D-Fremont) to speed resolutions of arbitration cases by specifying due dates and requiring consent from all parties before adjusting deadlines. The bill passed the Legislature with broad bipartisan support and tightens an arbitration law authored by Wieckowski and signed by Newsom in 2019.
