Sacramento, CA - Senate Bill 1116, a measure authored by Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – Burbank) which seeks to create a payroll fund to support small nonprofit performing arts venues (SNPAOs), passed the Senate Floor today and is headed to the Governor’s desk for signature.  The effort comes at a time when small community theatres are struggling in the aftermath of the pandemic.

SACRAMENTO, CA – The California State Senate today passed a bill by Senator Susan Rubio (D-Baldwin Park) that will collect important feedback from teachers leaving the profession to recruit new teacher candidates and retain veteran teachers.

SACRAMENTO – Now advancing to the Governor for his consideration, legislation authored by Senator Connie M. Leyva (D-Chino) to impose penalties on employers for unlawfully attempting to dissuade employees from joining or participating in a union passed from the California State Senate.

SACRAMENTO –  State Senator Bob Wieckowski’s (D-Fremont) bill to give California consumers more control of the data collected from inward-facing vehicle cameras overwhelmingly passed the Senate with bipartisan support and now heads to Governor Newsom.

SB 346 prohibits any image or video recording collected or retained through an in-vehicle camera from being sold or used for any advertising.

SACRAMENTO, CA – In a unanimous and bipartisan vote today, the California State Legislature has passed a bill by Senator Susan Rubio (D-Baldwin Park) that will help improve the health and safety of mobilehome park residents by clarifying the authority for code enforcement inspections in mobilehome parks.

SACRAMENTO - The Clean Energy, Jobs, and Affordability Act of 2022 (SB 1020) led by State Senator John Laird (D-Santa Cruz) and jointly authored by Senate President pro Tempore Toni G. Atkins (D-San Diego), Senator Anna Caballero (D-Merced), and Senator María Elena Durazo (D-Los Angeles) is poised to pass the State Senate today on a 30 to 9 vote, and will head to Governor Gavin Newsom for his consideration once a final vote is tallied.

SACRAMENTO – Today, Governor Newsom signed Senate Bill 850 authored by Senator John Laird to ensure families of fallen officers receive their full survival benefits regardless of family structure.

SACRAMENTO – The California State Senate today approved a bill by Senator Bob Wieckowski (D-Fremont) to help reduce fraud in the beverage container recycling system by prohibiting cash payments from processors to recyclers. Senate Bill 38 also requires the Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) to study and develop a system to address glass contamination in the recycling process.

SB 38 now heads to Governor Newsom for his signature.

Sacramento, CA – Today Senate Bill 1207, authored by Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – Burbank) which would improve maternal mental health support by providing women with outreach services, education and access to mental health treatment, is on the Governor’s desk for signature.  SB 1207 is supported by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists District IX (ACOG), Association of California Health Districts, California Catholic Conference and the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance.

Sacramento, CA – Senate Bill 230, an environmental protection measure authored by Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – Burbank) to improve drinking water by investigating Constituents of Emerging Concern (CECs), is headed to the Governor’s desk for signature.
