Bill Which Increases Safety Measures Against Registered Sex Offenders on Governor’s Desk

San Diego, CA…  Senator Ben Hueso today announced that Senate Bill 448 has made its way to the Governor’s office and is awaiting his signature.  Senate Bill 448 provides stronger terms for use by law enforcement to combat online predators.  This measure protects a voter approved initiative which requires all registered sex offenders who committed a felony sex offense and used the internet to commit the crime to disclose all internet identifiers to law enforcement.

GEOTHERMAL BILL ON ITS WAY TO GOVERNOR’S DESK

Tax Relief for Homeowners Who Modify Home Loans Gets a Second Chance

STOCKTON—State Senator Galgiani is pleased to announce the passage of Senate Bill 907 during the waning hours of the legislative session. The measure, which provides homeowners who receive debt reduction on their home mortgages with important state tax relief, had stalled in the Assembly. The bill was revived and passed the Senate Floor in the last two minutes of the legislative session after Galgiani, working with the Senate’s leadership, spent the remaining hours of session personally lobbying for its passage.

BUDGET TRAILER BILL ON SALTON SEA MAKES ITS WAY TO THE GOVERNOR’S DESK

San Diego, CA… State Senator Ben Hueso (D-San Diego) announced today that Senate Bill 859 has made its way to the Governor’s desk.  Senate bill 859, is a budget-related measure containing a proposal that would allocate $1.4 million to the Salton Sea.     

“While we still have a long way to go, every bit of funding for the Salton Sea will help us reach our restoration goals,” stated Senator Hueso.  “I want to thank my colleagues and the state agencies for working with me to secure funding for this precious lake.”

Legislature Approves Bill Removing Prohibition on Public Campaign Financing

Sacramento, CA – Legislation authored by Senator Ben Allen (D – Santa Monica) to remove current law’s prohibition on public financing of campaigns received final approval from the legislature today.  The measure, SB 1107, passed the state Senate on a vote of 27 – 12, just one day after it received a bipartisan, 55 votes in the state Assembly.
