SACRAMENTO – Members of the Assembly Select Committee on the Census and the Senate Select Committee on the 2020 United States Census gathered Tuesday for the first time to discuss the challenging task of ensuring that every California resident is counted in the 2020 Census. Achieving a complete count is critically important to ensuring that California does not lose out on billions of dollars in federal funding for education, healthcare, transportation, and other critical services, as well as the possibility of losing more than one seat in the House of Representatives.

SACRAMENTO – California Senate Leader Toni Atkins (D-San Diego) and Senate Budget & Fiscal Review Committee Chair, Senator Holly J. Mitchell (D-Los Angeles), issued the following statement in response to the Budget Committee’s approval of the Senate’s proposed 2018-19 budget:

(SACRAMENTO) – Today, Senator Richard D. Roth’s Medical Records Protection Act received unanimous support from the Senate Appropriations Committee. A 7 to 0 vote now has SB 1238 on its way to the Senate Floor.

SACRAMENTO – State Senator Jerry Hill announced today he will hold a hearing in June to examine sexual misconduct reporting in the medical profession and what happens when health care facilities receive complaints of sexual misconduct or other allegations of serious professional wrongdoing by doctors.
