SAN JOSE – Senate Bill 1’s reach will extend far beyond repairing California’s transportation infrastructure by triggering a wave of economic activity, creating new careers for thousands while also helping grow small businesses and disadvantaged business enterprises, panelists testified at a Senate Transportation and Housing Committee today.

Sacramento hearing Nov. 14 is third of three ‘inequality’ reviews

SACRAMENTO – Sen. Holly J. Mitchell will convene a key select committee to continue her review of gender inequality.

The Senate Select Committee on Women and Inequality will explore the status of ‘occupational segregation’ by gender and its relation to implicit bias.  

State Senator Jerry Hill, joined by Senators Mike McGuire and Scott Wiener and Assemblymembers Marc Levine and Jim Wood, will introduce legislation in January to prevent electric utilities found culpable in wildfires from passing the costs for claims not covered by insurance as well as fines or penalties onto customers.
