SB 3 Increases Floor Wage in Two Steps: $11 an hour in 2016 and $13 in 2017, Automatic Adjustments Start in 2019
SACRAMENTO – Legislation that would help lift California’s low-wage earners out of poverty passed the Senate today. Senate Bill 3, authored by Senator Mark Leno, would raise the state’s minimum wage to $11 an hour in 2016 and $13 in 2017. The bill is jointly authored by Senator Connie M. Leyva, D-Chino.

RELEASE: Senate Passes De León Bill to Aid Immigrant Crime Victims

SACRAMENTO – The Senate today approved  SB 674, a public-safety measure by President pro Tempore Kevin de León to protect all Californians by better sheltering immigrants who are crime victims from deportation if they help law enforcement.
“We’re all at risk when predators go free because victims of crime believe that cooperating with law enforcement will lead to their deportation,” said De León.

Law enforcement backed bill limits concealed weapons on school and college campuses
SACRAMENTO -- Legislation by Senator Lois Wolk (D-Davis) to help control concealed weapons on school and college campuses passed the State Senate today on a 23-12 vote.  The measure, SB 707, would prohibit concealed weapons carriers from bringing their firearm on campus without permission from campus authorities.

Sacramento – Dr. Richard Pan’s Senate Bill 574, which would require the University of California to release basic performance information on two of their largest venture capital investments: Kleiner Perkins Caulfield & Byers (Kleiner Perkins) and Sequoia Capital (Sequoia), passed the State Senate today on a vote of 34 to 0.
