(SACRAMENTO) – Today, Senator Richard D. Roth (D-Riverside) proudly honored Estella Acuña, University of California, Riverside’s Chicano Student Programs Director, as the 31st Senate District’s Woman of the Year.

State Sen. Nancy Skinner, D-Berkeley, today honored Contra Costa County District Attorney Diana Becton as the 2019 Woman of Year for the 9th Senate District. Becton is the first woman and the first African American to serve as Contra Costa County district attorney since the office was established in 1850. Over her distinguished career as a judge, lawyer, and manager, she has been committed to safeguarding communities from crime and working on positive outcomes for seniors and youth.

SACRAMENTO – Senate Majority Leader Bob Hertzberg (D-Van Nuys) announced today that he has named California State University, Northridge President Dr. Dianne F. Harrison as the 2019 Woman of the Year for the 18th Senate District.

San Diego, CA – March 1, 2019 – California State Senator Ben Hueso (D-San Diego) joined officials from the Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC) today at San Diego City College to announce the introduction of Senate Bill No. 416, which would expand workers’ compensation coverage to all peace officers for specific categories of injuries that are presumed to be work-related.
