Senator Wiener’s Net Neutrality Bill Passes Senate Energy Committee with Major Protections Intact

Sacramento–  Senator Scott Wiener’s (D-San Francisco) bill to restore net neutrality in California passed its first legislative committee today. Senate Bill 822 puts California at the national forefront of ensuring an open internet by establishing comprehensive and enforceable net neutrality standards to ensure that all California residents have the right to choose whether, when, and for what purpose they use the internet. SB 822 passed by a final vote of 8-3.

New Bill by Senator Hill Would Require Contractors to Report Settlements of $1M or More in Construction Defect Cases Involving Multifamily Rental Properties

Senator Hill introduced Senate Bill 1465 today to require contractors to report settlements of $1 million or more in construction defect cases involving multifamily rental residential structures to the Contractors State License Board. The new measure is the latest development in efforts to increase oversight of the industry in response to the Berkeley balcony tragedy.

Portantino, D – La Cañada Flintridge.  SB 1100 prohibits a person from making more than one firearm purchase within a 30-day period in California and increases the age requirement for purchasing all firearms to 21 years.
