SACRAMENTO – California Governor Jerry Brown signed into law Senate Bill 512, authored by Senator Ed Hernandez, O.D., (D-West Covina), which requires health care providers to disclose to patients when they are performing stem cell treatments not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Wieckowski urgency bill for new Fremont school signed by Governor

Sacramento – Senator Bob Wieckowski’s (D-Fremont) bill to help Fremont address school overcrowding issues by developing an elementary school near downtown was signed by Governor Brown today.

SB 178, supported by both the city of Fremont and the Fremont Unified School District (FUSD), expedites the transfer of 4.6 acres of undeveloped land at Centerville Community Park from the city to the district.  The bill will lead to a new joint use park on the remaining portion of the Centerville property and another new 4-acre park nearby on Dusterberry Way and Peralta Boulevard.

“I am pleased that Governor Brown signed Senate Bill (SB) 295 to require stronger enforcement of sexual harassment prevention training requirements for farmworkers.  As of January 2018, the California State Labor Commissioner will be able to ensure that violations identified in inspections and investigations of farm labor contractors are pursed vigorously.

Governor Signs Bill to Extend Tax Checkoffs for Breast Cancer Research

SACRAMENTO – Sen. Bob Hertzberg, D-Van Nuys, announced today that Gov. Jerry Brown has signed his legislation to ensure that Californians can continue to mark boxes on their state tax returns to contribute money to cancer research.

SB 440 extends a tax checkoff for cancer research from 2017 through 2024.
