Legislative Leaders, Governor Agree on $30 Million in Funding to Assist DACA Recipients

SACRAMENTO – Legislative Leaders and the Governor have agreed to provide $30 million in assistance to Dreamers in response to President Trump’s recent decision to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

Governor Signs Senate Bill 489 Improving Worker’s Compensation for Emergency Services

SACRAMENTO – In an effort to remove the cloud of uncertainty that hangs over the heads of thousands of young Californians, a key Senate committee today is expected to vote on a $30 million emergency plan to provide them legal and financial assistance.

The Senate Budget and Fiscal Review Committee, chaired by Sen. Holly J. Mitchell, will vote on the plan, a combined effort by Gov. Brown’s office and the leadership of both houses, to aid residents here under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Senator Josh Newman (D-Fullerton) has had another measure signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown today. Senate Bill (SB) 455 will allow military families moving to California to register their children in any California school district in advance of their Permanent Change of Station order.

Hill Bills on Martins Beach and Caltrain Sales Tax Head to the Governor, Assembly Passes School Reserve Cap Legislation

The state Senate approved bills today by Senator Jerry Hill, D-San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties, to aid the effort to restore public access at Martins Beach and provide a stable funding option for Caltrain, sending the legislation to Governor Brown for his review. Meanwhile, the Assembly passed a bill to ease the cap that limits how much schools districts can hold in their reserve funds as savings.

Sacramento – A bill by Senator Bob Wieckowski (D-Fremont) to protect the political speech rights of residents living in one of California’s more than 52,000 common interest developments was signed by Governor Brown today. SB 407 passed the Legislature with bipartisan support late last month.
