California Presidential Tax Transparency Bill Approved in Senate Elections Committee on Tax Day

Sacramento, CA – Millions of Americans filed their tax returns this week – yet President Donald Trump’s taxes are still a mystery. This is despite the fact the President promised to release his taxes months ago during the campaign.

California is now one step closer to mandating the release of returns with the passage of SB 149 – the Presidential Tax Transparency & Accountability Act. The bill passed the Senate Elections and Constitutional Amendments Committee with a 4-1 vote on Tuesday.

A rise in fake news was widely noted during the most recent Presidential election, where hoax websites deceived visitors with deceptive headlines and false facts. Media literacy is the ability to analyze and evaluate information consumed from various media sources such as websites, social networking sites, television, print and radio.

Senate Committee Passes Three Bills Authored by Senator Wiener to Protect and Conserve California’s Water

Sacramento –  Today the Senate Environmental Quality Committee approved three bills by Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) that will protect and conserve California’s water. These bills form a broad approach to water policy, by protecting waterways like San Francisco Bay and the California coastline from tar sands oil spills, creating a framework for onsite water reuse statewide, and establishing landscape standards to better improve water conservation.

Ruben A. Osorio, a Democrat from Chula Vista, has been appointed to the Acupuncture Board. Mr. Osorio is a Regional Sales Supervisor for Dion International Trucks. The effective date of this appointment will be June 1, 2017. His term end date shall be June 1, 2021. Compensation shall be $100 per diem and expenses.
