Sacramento, CA – Today, the State Senate voted to approve the landmark comprehensive transportation funding package that will advance billions of dollars to improve California’s crumbling roads and transportation infrastructure, specifically, $52 billion over the next decade for California’s crumbling roads, highways and public transit.

SACRAMENTO – California Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de León (D-Los Angeles) issued the following statement in response to the legislature’s passage of Senate Bill 1 to address California’s transportation infrastructure:

Sacramento – Senator Bob Wieckowski (D-Fremont), chair of the Senate Environmental Quality Committee, has introduced legislation for a comprehensive overhaul of California’s antiquated bottle recycling program.  Senate Bill 168, amended today, establishes a new streamlined stewardship program that reduces the Department of Resources, Recycling and Recovery’s (CalRecycle) administrative role.

SACRAMENTO – The Senate Governance and Finance Committee today passed legislation by Sen. Bob Hertzberg, D-Van Nuys, clarifying the definition of stormwater so that projects designed to capture and clean stormwater can be more easily financed and built by local agencies.

SACRAMENTO – With unanimous support, the Senate Environmental Quality Committee today approved legislation authored by Senator Connie M. Leyva (D-Chino) that will help ensure that K-12 students across California have access to clean drinking water at school.

 Sacramento –  Today, the Senate Governance and Finance Committee approved Senate Constitutional Amendment 6 introduced by Senator Scott Wiener (D- San Francisco) to set the voter approval threshold for transportation funding measures at 55%, down from the current threshold of 2/3, or 66.6%. This would put transportation funding measures on the same level as school funding measures, which were set at 55% by California voters in the year 2000.
