Sen. Wieckowski introduces bill to license debt collectors in California

SACRAMENTO – Seeking to improve consumer protection for Californians, today State Senator Bob Wieckowski (D-Fremont) introduced legislation to license the debt collection industry, an industry that generates nearly a third of all complaints to the federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.  SB 908 would require that debt collectors and buyers obtain a license from the state Department of Business Oversight (DBO) to collect on debts in the state.

Resources for Delta Airlines Jet Fuel Incident

On Tuesday, January 14, 2020, a Delta Airlines airplane making an emergency return to Los Angeles International Airport dumped fuel onto several schools, parks, and neighboring communities in the Southeast, including Cudahy and South Gate. Approximately 67 children and adults were treated for health-related ailments.
