Sen. Dodd Introduces Worker Protection Bill

SACRAMENTO – Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, introduced legislation today to protect employees of contractors by ensuring compliance with California workers’ compensation laws.

“While many do the right thing, too often we have seen contractors who do not carry workers’ compensation insurance,” Sen. Bill Dodd said. “My bill will eliminate barriers to coverage so we can protect those employees who might be injured on the job.”

Senator Leyva Reintroduces “Protect School Employees on Medical Leave Act”

SACRAMENTO – Building on her commitment to continue supporting California teachers and other school employees, Senator Connie M. Leyva (D-Chino) today introduced legislation that would repeal the 40-year-old California law requiring public school and community college employees—including teachers—to pay for the cost of their substitutes, known as “differential pay.”  Under SB 205, school employees would be entitled to continue receiving their full pay while on extended sick leave.
