SACRAMENTO – Senator Ben Allen (D – Santa Monica) has named The Albright as Small Business of the Year for Senate District 26. The Albright, which was chosen for its commitment to sustainability and dedication to the Santa Monica community, received the award at a Sacramento luncheon sponsored by the California Small Business Association on Wednesday, June 19  (see photo below).

SACRAMENTO – Legislation authored by Senator Ben Allen (D - Santa Monica) and Senator Scott Wiener (D- San Francisco) to repeal Article 34 of the California Constitution passed the Senate Housing Committee today on a vote of 9 - 0.  The bill is sponsored by Mayor Eric Garcetti and the City of Los Angeles, and supported by the California Association of Realtors and numerous housing advocacy organizations.

SACRAMENTO – Senator Ben Allen (D – Santa Monica), author of Senate Bill (SB) 682 issued the following statement following its defeat in the Senate Appropriations Committee:

SACRAMENTO – For the first time in more than a decade, California voters could get the chance to approve higher education bonds to improve classrooms, labs and libraries on California State University and University of California campuses under legislation approved by the Senate Wednesday.
