SEARS POINT – Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, will hold a press conference 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at Sonoma Raceway to announce new legislation to improve the antiquated and flood-prone Highway 37 on San Pablo Bay and protect the critical commuter and commercial route from sea level rise in the years ahead.

Sen. Dodd will be joined at the press conference by stakeholders and elected officials from Marin, Napa, Sonoma and Solano counties, as well as Bay Area transportation agency officials.

Sen. Dodd Introduces Power Shutoff Generator Bill

SACRAMENTO – Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, today announced new legislation to ensure critical facilities such as hospitals, fire stations and water treatment plants can operate during wildfire-inspired electric power shutoffs such as those used last year by Pacific Gas & Electric Co.

“Essential facilities must continue to function if PG&E again uses forced power shutoffs to avoid having its equipment spark fires,” Sen. Dodd said. “My bill is a commonsense measure that would allow the use of generators, ensuring the public is served and protected at the most critical time.”

Sen. Dodd Introduces College Student Hunger Bill

SACRAMENTO – Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, announced today his new legislation to get food aid to low-income college students, ensuring the underserved population has adequate food and nutrition.

“It’s no secret that going to college is expensive, but students shouldn’t have to starve to advance their education,” said Sen. Dodd, who introduced Senate Bill 1082 late Tuesday. “Unfortunately, chronic hunger is far too common on our campuses. My bill puts food on the table for those who are struggling, helping more Californians achieve their educational and career goals.”

SACRAMENTO – Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, introduced wildfire-inspired legislation today to improve emergency evacuations and public safety. The bill would authorize municipalities across the state to use European-style “hi-lo” sirens in emergency vehicles to alert people of evacuations.
