Legislature Approves Sen. Dodd’s Power Shutoff Protection Bill

SACRAMENTO – The Legislature today approved a wildfire-inspired proposal from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, that would help low-income people who rely on life-support equipment to receive backup power during electric transmission line de-energization.

“Clearly, we must protect vulnerable people who rely on critical-care equipment as climate change drives up our fire risk,” Sen. Dodd said. “My bill says that before utilities can shut off the power to prevent an inferno, they must develop plans to ensure the health and safety of those who are most defenseless.”

Legislature Approves Sen. Dodd’s Glass Recycling Bill

SACRAMENTO – Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, announced today that the Legislature has approved his proposal that would remove barriers to glass recycling.

“This is a commonsense measure that will reduce the amount of glass that goes into our waste stream, ultimately cutting greenhouse gas emissions,” Sen. Dodd said. “Thanks to my colleagues in the Legislature for recognizing the value of taking this important step, which will help us achieve our landfill reduction goals.”

Lawmakers Pass Sen. Dodd’s Insurance Adjuster Bill

SACRAMENTO – The Legislature today approved a bill from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, that would eliminate the confusion and delays caused by uninformed, out-of-state or multiple insurance adjusters during the 2017 North Bay wildfires.

Senate Bill 240 requires the California Department of Insurance to produce information on the most significant state insurance laws related to disasters and set training standards for agents handling catastrophic events. It also mandates that insurers provide a single point of contact for customers to make processing claims easier.

Lawmakers Approve Sen. Dodd’s Skyline Wilderness Park Bill

August 22, 2019

SACRAMENTO – Legislation from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, that would allow Napa County to negotiate with the state to buy the 850-acre Skyline Wilderness Park was approved by the Legislature today.

Senate Bill 20 would ensure the prime land with popular hiking trails and views of the Bay Area remains a public open space forever.

“This is such an important community asset, both from a recreational and environmental perspective,” Sen. Dodd said. “We must preserve this land for the public and place it under local control so it remains parkland in perpetuity.”
