SACRAMENTO – Senate President pro Tempore Toni G. Atkins (D-San Diego) issued the following statement on today’s decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals of the Ninth Circuit clearing the way for the Title X Gag Rule to go into effect:

SACRAMENTO – The Senate Rules Committee has appointed Marin County Supervisor Katie Rice to the California Coastal Commission and San Francisco County Supervisor Rafael Mandelman, J.D. as an alternate.

SACRAMENTO – California Senate President pro Tempore, Toni G. Atkins (D-San Diego), today announced changes to the Senate’s committee membership assignments for the 2019-2020 Legislative session.

"As leaders of the Assembly and the Senate, we are deeply concerned about the statewide strike called by the National Union of Healthcare Workers in its contract negotiations with Kaiser Permanente.

"This will be extraordinarily disruptive. We cannot underestimate the impact of 3,500 mental health caregivers not showing up to provide care to millions of Kaiser patients who depend on it.
