Sacramento, CA - State Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – La Cañada Flintridge) announced today that his budget request for Los Angeles Zoo projects was adopted in the 2022-2023 State Budget.  The allocation will be used by the City of Los Angeles to support community-building, biodiversity awareness, protection of endangered species and the development of more accessible and inclusive facilities.

Sacramento, CA - State Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – La Cañada Flintridge) announced today that his budget request to create and fund a regional affordable housing trust between the cities of Pasadena, Burbank, and Glendale was approved.  The 2022-2023 State Budget will allocate $23 million to help finance affordable housing projects in the three cities through the joint powers authority (JPA) outlined in Senator Portantino’s SB 1177.

Portantino (D – La Cañada Flintridge) announced today that his budget request of $2.5 million for the National Animation Museum was approved in the 2022-2023 State Budget.  The funds will help develop a virtual and physical museum to provide educational experiences for students and professionals and preserve California’s rich animation history.

Portantino (D – La Cañada Flintridge) announced today that his budget request of $2 million to the City of Glendale for the restoration of the landmark Casey Stengel Baseball Field was approved in the 2022-2023 State Budget.  The funds will provide critical improvements to the historic field that has served Glendale families and youth for decades.

SACRAMENTO, CA – Yesterday, Governor Gavin Newsom signed a final budget package, that included SB 125, “Public Resources: Geothermal Resources: Lithium.” SB 125 is aimed at guaranteeing that communities of Imperial County directly benefit from the development of Lithium Valley and that those profiting from these developments pay their equitable and fair share through a reasonable tax on the development and process of mineral extraction.

SACRAMENTO – Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, announced today the Legislature has approved his proposal to help ensure the conservation of big game habitats in California through public-private partnerships with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.

SACRAMENTO, CA – California Governor Gavin Newsom has signed a series of budget bills this week that included a proposal by Senator Susan Rubio (D-Baldwin Park) to expand the eligibility for the Young Child Tax Credit and adjusts the credit for inflation to help struggling families and reduce poverty.

Authored by Senator Ben Allen (D – Santa Monica), Senate Bill 54 places the responsibility for costs on the producers rather than the local communities who pay for waste management and recycling.

Sacramento, California – Senate Bill 485, a measure authored by Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – La Canada Flintridge) that extends the sunset date for the film and television production tax credit program for five years, passed the Assembly Revenue and Taxation Committee today.
