SACRAMENTO- Senator Mark Leno’s bill to reform the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) by increasing transparency and commissioner accountability was approved on the Assembly Floor today. SB 215 is part of a package of Commission reforms agreed upon by Governor Brown, Assemblymember Mike Gatto, and Senators Jerry Hill and Mark Leno to improve governance, accountability, oversight and transparency of the California Public Utilities Commission.

Senator Roth’s Proposal Protecting Law Enforcement Injured in the Line of Duty Approved by California State Assembly

(Sacramento, CA) -- Senator Richard D. Roth’s (D-Riverside) proposal to protect peace officers and firefighters catastrophically injured in the line of duty has been approved by the California State Assembly on a bipartisan, unanimous vote of 55-0.

Senate Bill 897 provides an extension of workers’ compensation benefits to police and firefighters, providing an additional year of healing time for those who are catastrophically injured in the line of duty.

Assembly Approves Leno Bill to Prevent Foreclosures

SACRAMENTO – The Homeowner Survivor Bill of Rights, authored by Senators Mark Leno and Cathleen Galgiani, was approved by the State Assembly today. Senate Bill 1150 closes a loophole in California law that fails to provide surviving family members important protections against foreclosure that are available to other homeowners.

Governor Brown Signs Electronic License Plate Pilot Program Extension Bill into Law!

San Diego, CA… Senator Ben Hueso (D-San Diego) announced today that Governor Brown signed the  Electronic License Plate Pilot Program extension bill into law.   Senate bill (SB) 1399 extends the sunset date from January 1, 2017 to January 1, 2019 on an existing California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) pilot program that evaluates alternatives to license plates and registration documents.
