Delta legislators to request state audit of Twin Tunnels

E-Cigarette Bill Signed into Law

May 4, 2016

California will regulate electronic cigarettes just as it does all other tobacco products under legislation signed today by Governor Jerry Brown. SBX2 5, authored by Senator Mark Leno, protects the public against exposure to e-cigarettes by ensuring they are accurately defined as tobacco products and fall under the state’s existing smoke-free laws. It also requires that all e-cigarettes and liquids for e-cigarettes be sold in child-resistant packaging.

Law enforcement group names Wolk its Legislator of the Year

Group honors Senator for authoring campus gun safety bill
(SACRAMENTO, CA)–The California College & University Police Chiefs Association honored State Senator Lois Wolk (D-Davis) as its 2016 Legislator of the Year today for her leadership in authoring legislation to help control concealed weapons on school and college campuses.
Wolk’s Senate Bill 707, sponsored by CCUPCA, prohibits concealed weapons carriers from bringing their firearm on campus without permission from campus authorities. The new law took effect January 1, 2016.

Legislation to ensure safety standards are met at site of massive natural gas leak headed to governor’s desk

Acting to ensure that public safety will be protected before storage activity can resume at the Aliso Canyon gas storage facility, the California State Senate today unanimously approved amendments added by the Assembly to urgency legislation authored by Senator Fran Pavley. With the concurrence of amendments in place and SB 380 approved by the Assembly last week on a bipartisan 70-2 vote, the bill now goes to the governor. It will become effective immediately upon his signature.
