SACRAMENTO-Today, the results and recommendations from Senator Galgiani’s California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) audit request were released to the public. “The results of this audit have just confirmed my original suspicions that CDCR did not comply with state laws in hiring retirees specifically in managerial positions. The State Auditor’s office also found that the department did not do a sufficient job in protecting state tax payer dollars by monitoring the use of state-owned vehicles.”

Senator Roth to Chair Oversight Hearing on Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Coverage

Senator Richard D. Roth (D-Riverside) will chair an Oversight Hearing of the Senate Insurance Committee on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, to examine whether uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage meets consumer needs.

Existing California law requires drivers and vehicle owners to have some way to pay for potential damages they may cause while driving an automobile.  This requirement is usually satisfied by purchasing insurance with minimum coverage of $15,000 per person for bodily injury or death, up to $30,000 per accident, and $5,000 for property damage.

SACRAMENTO – Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de León (D-Los Angeles) rededicated the State Capitol’s Rose Ann Vuich Hearing Room 2040, by unveiling portraits to honor the 42 trailblazing women Senators who have served in the California State Senate. Sixty-five years after women won the right to vote in California in 1911, Rose Ann Vuich was first elected to the Senate in 1976. She was the first woman to serve as Senator, 127 years after the establishment of the State Senate in 1849.
