Sacramento – In the wake of potential abuse cases (including that of Britney Spears), California’s conservatorship framework is just one step away from being significantly reformed. Assembly Bill 1194 by Assemblymember Low (D – Silicon Valley) and Senator Ben Allen (D – Santa Monica) cleared its final hurdles in the California Legislature today. The bill now heads to the Governor, who has until October 10 to sign it into law or veto.

Senator Susan Rubio Bill Creating Cancer Medication Recycling Program Passes CA Assembly

SACRAMENTO, CA – The California State Assembly today passed a bill by Sen. Susan Rubio (D-Baldwin Park) that helps our most vulnerable cancer patients receive access to life-saving cancer medication.

Senate Bill 310 creates a cancer medication donation program by establishing a registration program for the collection and distribution of specified unused cancer medications under the Cancer Medication Recycling Act.

SACRAMENTO ­– Today, Senate Bill 2, authored by Senator Steven Bradford (D-Gardena) and Senate President pro Tempore Toni G. Atkins (D-San Diego), was approved 28-9 during a final concurrence vote on the Senate Floor. Also known as the Kenneth Ross Jr. Police Decertification Act of 2021, SB 2 aims to increase accountability for law enforcement officers that commit serious misconduct and illegally violate a person’s civil rights.
