Senator Stern’s Statement on Assembly Bill 2133 The California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006: emissions limit

Sacramento, CA - It was very disappointing that the clock struck midnight on September 1, 2022 and
Assembly Bill 2133 failed to garner 41 votes in the Assembly to head to the Governor’s desk for an
automatic signature as the Legislature tried to implement the Governor’s broad environmental vision. AB
2133 would have increased our current Greenhouse Gas ( reduction target from 40% to 55% by
2030, ensuring emissions are reduced to at least 55% below the 1990 level by no later tha n December 31,
2030.

Caballero (D-Merced) announced today the passage of SB 905, legislation jointly authored with Senator Nancy Skinner (D-Berkeley), that is focused on carbon capture removal, utilization, and storage. The bill is part of the Legislature’s Climate Package, which tackled a myriad of goals aimed at targeting climate change, including accelerated greenhouse gas reduction goal setting and codifying carbon neutrality goals.

Portantino Bill Addressing Mental Health Provider Shortage Heads to Governor’s Desk

Sacramento, CA – Senate Bill 1002, a measure authored by State Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – Burbank) seeks to address the mental health provider shortage.  It is headed to the Governor’s desk for signature.  SB 1002 would authorize qualified social workers to offer assessment and psychotherapy for mental or behavioral health issues, in order to provide additional resources to injured workers in need of immediate care.
