31st District Digest: Updates on Regional Stay-at-Home Orders, Eviction Moratoriums, and more: On Monday, the California Dept. of Public Health announced that regional stay at home orders have been lifted, placing Riverside County back into the Purple Tier of the Statewide Blueprint for a safer economy.

Senator Dave Cortese (D-Silicon Valley) made the following statement regarding the Senate’s vote on SB 91 today. This bill will extend the eviction moratorium in California through June 30, 2021 and distribute $2.6 billion in renter aid from the latest federal stimulus package.

SACRAMENTO, CA – Sen. Susan Rubio (D-Baldwin Park) has introduced a bill that will help correct generations of bias against people of color in housing practices by requiring real estate professionals to take implicit bias training to keep their license.

Sacramento — Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) introduced Senate Bill 260, the Climate Corporate Accountability Act (CCAA). SB 260 would be the first law in the country to require U.S.-based companies — those doing business in California and generating over $1 billion in gross annual revenue — to disclose all of their greenhouse gas emissions and set science-based targets to reduce those emissions. SB 260 is co-sponsored by Carbon Accountable, Sunrise Bay Area, and the California League of Conservation Voters.

SACRAMENTO – Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, issued the following statement today as the Legislature voted to extend the statewide eviction moratorium, protecting landlords and tenants affected by the coronavirus pandemic:

Dodd said. “Extending the eviction moratorium is a commonsense measure to support tenants and landlords. SACRAMENTO – The California State Senate confirmed Assemblymember Shirley Weber (D-San Diego) as the state’s Secretary of State in a 29-0 floor vote on Thursday, January 28, 2021.

The Senate Rules Committee confirmed Dr. Weber’s nomination during a hearing on Wednesday.

Senate Majority Leader Bob Hertzberg (D-Van Nuys), Assemblymember Rob Bonta (D-Oakland), and Senator Nancy Skinner (D-Berkeley) introduced joint legislation on Wednesday designed to reform the state’s money bail system, and to address the disproportionate impacts on low-income and low-wealth residents. The new legislation, SB 262 in the Senate and AB 329 in the Assembly, would set bail at $0 for misdemeanors and low-level felonies in California.
