SACRAMENTO – Senate Majority Leader Bob Hertzberg (D-Van Nuys) announced today that he has named the San Fernando Valley’s Fitness Girl Bootcamp as his Small Business of the Year.

Fitness Girl Bootcamp is an all-women fitness studio that opened its doors in 2015 in Mission Hills. Several years before, owner Marisol Rodriguez began teaching exercise and dance classes in parks throughout the San Fernando Valley before she finally realized her dream of opening a studio of her own.

Portantino’s Effort to Free Glendale’s $27 million in Bonds to Fund Affordable Housing Passes Assembly Housing Committee

Sacramento, California – Today, SB 532 authored by Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D–La Cañada Flintridge) passed the Assembly Housing Committee. Senator Portantino introduced SB 532 at the request from the City of Glendale. After the dissolution of Redevelopment Agencies (RDAs), Glendale was left with $27 million dollars in bond proceeds but precluded from using these funds for housing.  SB 532 will give Glendale the ability to use these bond funds exclusively for affordable housing.
