SACRAMENTO – Senate Majority Leader Bob Hertzberg (D-Van Nuys) announced today that he has named the San Fernando Valley’s Fitness Girl Bootcamp as his Small Business of the Year.

Fitness Girl Bootcamp is an all-women fitness studio that opened its doors in 2015 in Mission Hills. Several years before, owner Marisol Rodriguez began teaching exercise and dance classes in parks throughout the San Fernando Valley before she finally realized her dream of opening a studio of her own.

SACRAMENTO, CA –State Senator Melissa Hurtado (D-Sanger) is pleased to announce that Initiative Foods was named Senate District 14’s Small Business of the Year. The award recognizes outstanding small businesses that have demonstrated leadership in paving the way for other local businesses and its community.

SACRAMENTO – The Senate Rules Committee has appointed Marin County Supervisor Katie Rice to the California Coastal Commission and San Francisco County Supervisor Rafael Mandelman, J.D. as an alternate.

SACRAMENTO – Castro Valley comic book store Crush Comics was honored today by Senator Bob Wieckowski (D-Fremont) in the state Capital as the Small Business of the Year for Senate District 10.

Sacramento, California – Today, SB 532 authored by Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D–La Cañada Flintridge) passed the Assembly Housing Committee. Senator Portantino introduced SB 532 at the request from the City of Glendale. After the dissolution of Redevelopment Agencies (RDAs), Glendale was left with $27 million dollars in bond proceeds but precluded from using these funds for housing.  SB 532 will give Glendale the ability to use these bond funds exclusively for affordable housing.    

SACRAMENTO – Earlier today, Senator Connie M. Leyva (D-Chino) recognized Jia Pon Cafe & Bakery in Chino as the 20th State Senate District “Small Business of the Year” for 2019.
