Senator Lara Statement on Appropriations Committee Passage of Cap and Trade Package

SACRAMENTO, CA – Senator Ricardo Lara (D-Bell Gardens), chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, released this statement after committee members approved AB 617 and AB 398 to extend California’s cap and trade program and establish a strong, statewide program to address air pollution in California’s most impacted communities. Mitchell on Saturday presented free laptops and scooters to 150 at-risk children during a carnival that keyed on fun – but really was part of her years-long effort to engage children to stay mentally, physically and nutritionally active.

Senate Passes Senator Wiener’s Bill to Fix California’s Broken Recycling Laws

Sacramento –  Today the State Senate passed a bill by Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) to fix state recycling laws that are negatively impacting small businesses across California. SB 458 authorizes CalRecycle to create five mobile recycling pilot programs throughout the state, which will allow cities like San Francisco to pursue a mobile recycling redemption program.

100% Renewable Energy Measure Passes Critical Hurdle in Assembly

SACRAMENTO – The Assembly Committee on Utilities and Energy today approved Senate Bill 100, by Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de León (D-Los Angeles), which  will set California on a path to 100 percent renewable energy by 2045. The measure passed on a 10-4 vote.

SACRAMENTO – Senate Bill 267 to allow the City of Sacramento to contract with the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) to investigate and enforce the City’s campaign finance ordinance passed the Assembly Local Government Committee today on a vote of 7 to 0. The measure is authored by Dr. Richard Pan and principal co-authored by Assemblymember Kevin McCarty.
