Sacramento – State Senator Bob Wieckowski’s bill clarifying that current mediation confidentiality statutes do not apply to legally-required financial disclosures in family law cases was signed into law today by Governor Jerry Brown.  The bill codifies an appellate court ruling from 2014.

SACRAMENTO- California Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de León (D- Los Angeles), released the following statement today on the Governor’s signing SB 110, which allocates $75 million from Proposition 39 for schools to retrofit California’s oldest school bus fleets:

(SACRAMENTO, CA) –Today, the Assembly Committee on Transportation passed Senate Bill (SB) 158 by Senator Bill Monning (D-Carmel).  The bill will improve road safety by implementing new federal commercial truck driving regulations, as well as adding additional truck driver safety requirements.  

SACRAMENTO – Legislation by Sen. Bob Hertzberg, D-Van Nuys, requiring courts to offer traffic ticket violators payment plans and to reduce fine amounts to a level they can afford today passed the Assembly Transportation Committee.

SACRAMENTO –State Senator Henry Stern’s SB 756, which would provide restitution for mental health services to young sexual abuse victims, now heads to Governor Jerry Brown’s desk to await his signature after receiving unanimous approval from members of both the State Assembly and Senate.

First reform bill by Sens. Mitchell and Lara takes effect Jan. 1, 2018 
SACRAMENTO – Today, California Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law the first in a package of criminal justice-reform bills seeking to improve public safety, save taxpayers money and put greater emphasis on prevention, rehabilitation and maintaining family cohesion.

The Assembly Business and Professions Committee casts do-or-die votes on two consumer protection bills by state Senator Jerry Hill that would ensure that patients are notified by their doctor if the physician has been placed on probation for serious professional misconduct, and ensure that state regulators are notified if registered nurses are terminated for – or resign because of – offenses that endangered or harmed patients.

Projects aimed at transforming the 51-mile concrete trough into a vibrant social and recreational center are nearly three decades in the making.
