SACRAMENTO – Today, Senate leadership unveiled the Preserve California legislative package to insulate the state from dangerous rollbacks in federal environmental regulations and public health protections.

Sacramento, CA – Senator Mike McGuire today is helping to lead the way on a new Senate Environmental Protection Legislative Package introduced to shield California from potential harmful changes in federal law.
California is home to 45 million acres of federal Wildlands which feature millions of acres of forest, scenic rivers and watersheds, which is the drinking source for millions of residents, open spaces and the rugged California coast.

San Lorenzo – State Senator Bob Wieckowski (D-Fremont) will honor three awardees who are making a positive impact in the 10th Senate District at his 6th Annual African American Heritage Leadership Awards, at 3:30 p.m., Friday, February 24 in the San Lorenzo Library, 395 Paseo Grande.  The awards program is part of the Senator’s celebration of Black History Month.

SACRAMENTO – Sen. Holly Mitchell, D-Los Angeles, announced today the hiring of Ray Sotero, a longtime Sacramento-area journalist who has served as communications director for four lawmakers.

State and local leaders invite the public to discuss the future of California’s health care 

SACRAMENTO – With their push to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Republicans in Congress continue to threaten the health care of millions of Californians. Despite growing support for the law, and despite failing to come up with an alternative after six years, the Republican Congress wants to take health care away from the poor and working class in order to finance tax cuts for the wealthy.

The Senate Committee on Business, Professions and Economic Development released a report today that addresses the hundreds of doctors throughout the state who are on probation. The report is among materials issued in advance of the committee’s February 27 sunset review hearing of the state Medical Board.

Today Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) joined a coalition of transportation and health advocates to announce the introduction of SB 760, which will prioritize the creation of ‘complete streets,’ including safer sidewalks, bikeways, and crosswalks, on roads owned and managed by Caltrans in cities, towns, and neighborhoods.
