The state Legislature today unanimously approved State Sen. Jerry McNerney’s SB 872, which is designed to protect California’s primary water source for decades to come.
Supported by environmentalists and State Water Contractors that have often been at odds over water use, SB 872 would safeguard both the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta and the State Water Project’s (SWP) canals. 

The state Legislature today unanimously approved Sen. Jerry McNerney’s SB 881, the Farmer to Food Bank Tax Credit. 
SB 881 will enable farmers, growers, and food producers to provide fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, and more to food-insecure families and receive tax credits for donating surplus food to food banks.

The California Legislature today approved Sen. Jerry McNerney’s SB 1196, which will streamline the creation of accessory dwelling units by accelerating utility service connections.
SB 1196 would direct the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to establish clear timelines for utility hookups requests for ADUs, also known as backyard cottages, and institute penalties for utilities that that do not timely process energization applications.
