Natural Resources Committee Passes Atkins’ Bill to Protect California from Sea Level Rise

SACRAMENTO – Senate President pro Tempore Toni G. Atkins (D-San Diego) today presented SB 1, a landmark bill to help California address the impacts of sea level rise, to the Senate Committee on Natural Resources and Water, which approved the bill in a 7-2 vote.

$5.5 Billion Fire Prevention & Climate Resiliency Bond Passes Senate Natural Resources Committee

Sacramento, California – Senate Bill 45,  a measure authored by Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – La Canada) that provides critical investments to help California become more resilient to climate change, passed the Senate Natural Resources Committee today. Senators Allen, Hurtado, and Stern are joint authors of the bill. SB 45 will be amended to include Senator Rubio as a joint author, Senator Hertzberg as principal co-author, and Senators Dodd, Archuleta, Gonzalez, Glazer, and Cortese as co-authors.

Bill to Expand Chino Hills State Park Advances in the California Legislature

March 16, 2021

Sacramento, Calif. — Members of the Senate Committee on Natural Resources and Water passed a bill Tuesday that would require the California Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) to incorporate three parcels of land, about 1,500 acres, into Chino Hills State Park. SB 266, authored by Senator Josh Newman (D-Fullerton), passed with a unanimous, bipartisan vote.
Chino Hills State Park is situated in a densely populated region of the Los Angeles Basin and sees more than 300,000 visitors annually.
