SACRAMENTO, CA – Senator Melissa Hurtado (D-Sanger) issued the following statement upon the passage of the Golden State Stimulus Plan to provide support to Californians suffering through economic hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

SACRAMENTO – Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, issued the following statement today upon the passage by the Legislature of a $9.6 billion economic stimulus package to help California families and businesses struggling because of the coronavirus pandemic:

SACRAMENTO – California State Senator Bob Wieckowski (D-Fremont) has introduced a package of bills to protect worker rights, reform the state’s broken Bottle Bill program, require a label on products with synthetic food dyes and notify consumers when their debt is sold, along with other pro-consumer legislation. Friday marked the bill introduction deadline in the California Legislature.

SACRAMENTO: Senator Anna M. Caballero (D-Salinas) introduced the final in a series of bills designed to improve health access and outcomes for all Californians, and particularly those in rural areas throughout her district where care is the hardest to obtain. This would include a comprehensive plan for the state to address the current IT limitations and disparities faced by physicians and physician practices in remote areas.

WHAT: Senator Dave Cortese (D-San Jose), is available to discuss a new bill he has introduced, SB 739, the “Universal Basic Income for Transition Age Foster Youth Act”, which would provide direct cash assistance through a statewide universal basic income (UBI) Pilot Program for the approximately 3,000 youth who age out of Extended Foster Care in California each year.

SACRAMENTO, CA – Senator Melissa Hurtado (D-Sanger) today introduced legislation to expand housing options for seniors and Californians who cannot live independently by allowing residential care facilities to use the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) program to partially staff facilities that serve low-income elderly or disabled residents.

SACRAMENTO – Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) introduced SB 617, the Solar Access Act. SB 617 implements automated solar permitting in local jurisdictions with over 10,000 residents. This will allow for remote inspections and approvals of residential solar and solar-plus-storage systems, which will greatly decrease approval times, cut permitting costs for local governments and homeowners, and help California meet its greenhouse gas emission reduction goals. SB 617 is co-sponsored by SPUR and Environment California.

Sacramento, Calif.– Today, Senator Lena A. Gonzalez (D-Long Beach) and Assembly Majority Leader Eloise Gómez Reyes (D-San Bernardino) introduced legislation to bring the Clean Transportation Program up to date to achieve the state’s new environmental targets. The last iteration of the program was developed nearly a decade ago, rendering fundamental measures and objectives within the program outdated and in grave need of revitalization. SB 726 and AB 1389 would ensure it is updated to reflect clean vehicle technological advancements and to align with current clean air and climate goals.

Sacramento, California – Today Senator Anthony J. Portantino’s (D – La Cañada Flintridge) introduced SB 715, a measure that would define a valid and unexpired hunting license and would require the Department of Justice (DOJ) to confirm the validity of the hunting license. The bill would also authorize the state prosecutor to investigate officer-involved shootings that result in the death of a civilian if there is a reasonable dispute whether that civilian was armed.
