Senate Health Leader continues to fight Big Pharma in California for some much-needed sunshine on drug costs

SACRAMENTO – Today, the Assembly Health Committee approved passage of Senate Bill 17, which provides transparency on rising drug prices in California.

SACRAMENTO – Today, the California State Senate Health Leader called for the U.S. Senate to conduct transparent proceedings for their version of health care reform and implored federal leaders to learn from California’s success with the Affordable Care Act.

Senator Hernandez will tour parts of the Central Valley, speaking with community members

California is facing a drinking water crisis because more than one million Californians are exposed to unsafe drinking water in their homes and schools each year. Some Californians have lived with this problem for a decade or more. This is a statewide issue with a large concentration of impacted communities located in the Central Valley, with Latino and low-income communities disproportionately affected.

SACRAMENTO – Today, six of Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez’, O.D. (D-West Covina) bills were approved by the Senate Appropriations Committee and will now advance to the Senate Floor for a vote by the entire Senate body. Among them is Senate Bill 17, which provides transparency on rising drug prices in California and is a step toward more affordable and accessible prescription drugs for everyone in the state.
