SACRAMENTO – On Wednesday, April 18, legislation to provide a more humane process for discharging homeless patients after their hospital stay will be heard in the Senate Health Committee.

Authored by Senator Ed Hernandez, O.D., (D-West Covina), Senate Bill 1152 addresses a practice known as “patient dumping” where homeless patients are discharged under unsafe conditions.

SACRAMENTO – The Senate Health Committee passed Senate Bill 1255, which establishes state-funded subsidies for Californians to purchase health coverage through Covered California, by a vote of 8-1.

Authored by Senator Ed Hernandez, O.D., (D-West Covina), SB 1255 would direct Covered California to administer state-funded subsidies to Californians who have to pay more than 8% of their annual household income on insurance premiums.

SACRAMENTO – The Senate Health Committee passed Senate Bill 992, which brings more oversight for licensed substance use disorder treatment facilities and adds transparency to unlicensed recovery homes, by a vote of 9-0.

SB 992 and SB 1255 will be heard today at 1:30 p.m.

Bill also increases transparency on unlicensed sober living homes

SACRAMENTO – On Wednesday, April 11, Senate Bill 992, which requires more oversight for licensed substance use disorder treatment facilities and brings transparency to unlicensed recovery homes, will be heard in the Senate Health Committee.

California has the responsibility to treat and protect individuals with substance use disorders.

SACRAMENTO – Senator Ed Hernandez, O.D., (D-West Covina) is requesting the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office launch an investigation into the city of Industry, which is a charter city of about 200 residents in the San Gabriel Valley.

Since the city of Industry is within Senator Hernandez’ Senate District, he has witnessed the company town mentality and past bad governance from city officials for years.
