SACRAMENTO – Senator Ed Hernandez (D-West Covina) issued the following statement on the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of California dismissing the lawsuit brought by the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) to stop California's landmark drug price transparency law:

SACRAMENTO – Today, Senate Bill 1108, authored by Senator Ed Hernandez, O.D. (D-West Covina), passed the Senate Floor and now heads to Governor Jerry Brown’s desk. SB 1108 will prohibit work requirements as a condition of Medi-Cal eligibility.

SACRAMENTO – Today, the State Assembly approved passage of Senate Bill 1152, which provides a more humane process for discharging homeless patients after their hospital stay.

Authored by Senator Ed Hernandez, O.D., (D-West Covina) and approved by a vote of 44-20*, Senate Bill 1152 addresses a practice known as “patient dumping” where homeless patients are discharged under unsafe conditions.

SACRAMENTO – The author and co-sponsors of California’s landmark law, Senate Bill 17, sent a letter today to pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly in regards to its newly created “Diabetes Solution Center.” This drug corporation, one of the makers of insulin, is opening a helpline claiming to assist people who can’t afford their needed insulin.
