Senator Anna M. Caballero Secures $15 Million in the State Budget for District Essential Public Safety Projects

Sacramento: Senator Anna M. Caballero (D-Salinas) is pleased to announce that the state budget includes $15 million to fund essential needs in five of the communities in the 12th Senate District. As the state enters an important economic recovery period post pandemic, this infusion of resources for rural, agricultural communities will be an important investment.

Senator Caballero Announces the Passage of The California Community and Neighborhood Tree Fund, Signed By Governor Newsom

Sacramento: Senator Anna M. Caballero (D-Salinas) is pleased to announce that the first of her bills to pass through the legislature and to be signed by Governor Newsom, is SB 347 The California Community and Neighborhood Tree Fund. SB 347 creates a voluntary contribution on the state income tax to help provide a consistent source of funding to CalFire’s Urban and Community Forestry program, with a special focus on small, urbanized communities that struggle with the long-term care and maintenance costs of tree planting programs.

The California Small Business COVID-19 Relief Grant Program

SACRAMENTO- Today, Senator Anna Caballero (D-Salinas) announced SB 87, The California Small Business COVID-19 Grant Relief Program.(Caballero, Min) If approved, nearly $2.1 billion dollars would be allocated to the Office of the Small Business Advocate (CalOSBA) to assist in and administer grants for qualified small businesses who have been devastated economically by the COVID -19 pandemic. This would also include $50M to nonprofit cultural institutions.

In August 2020, the Legislature passed and the Governor signed AB 3088, the Tenant, Homeowner, and Small Landlord Relief and Stabilization Act authored by Assemblymembers Chiu and Limon and Senators Caballero and Bradford. The bill established a statewide moratorium on evictions until January 31st, 2021 and extended the Homeowners Bill of Rights to small landlords.

Governor Newsom Signs SB 1409 to Help Low Income Californians

Governor Newsom signed SB 1409 (Caballero), which requires the Franchise Tax Board to issue a plan to increase the claims of the California and federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), including alternative filing systems to help low-income families that currently miss out on the credit.
