Sen. Dodd’s College Student Food Insecurity Bill Passes Senate

SACRAMENTO – Legislation from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, that would ensure low-income college students have reliable access to nutritious food through the Cal Fresh program cleared the full Senate today by unanimous vote.

“Hunger is a serious problem on California college campuses today,” Sen. Dodd said.  “My bill will ensure students of modest means don’t go hungry by making it easier for them to receive public assistance. Students shouldn’t have to starve in order to get an education.”

Sen. Dodd to Host Rohnert Park Senior Forum

Sen. Dodd, Asm. Gray Announce Joint Hearing to Examine Horse Racing Safety

SACRAMENTO – In an effort to protect horses and jockeys amid the recent spate of racing horse deaths at Santa Anita Park, Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, and Assemblymember Adam Gray, D-Merced, announced plans today for a thorough, joint oversight hearing on horse racing safety. The duo also announced the introduction of new legislation to authorize the California Horse Racing Board to promptly suspend racing if dangerous conditions exist.

Vallejo Intersection Repaving Starts Sunday

VALLEJO – Overnight repaving work will begin Sunday on four Vallejo intersections along State Route 29/Sonoma Boulevard as Caltrans performs long-sought road surface improvements through next week.

“We’ve heard loud and clear that fixing these jarring intersections is a top priority,” Sen. Dodd said. “Through a partnership with Caltrans and the city of Vallejo, I’m happy to say we’re getting it done. It’s an important project that will improve the quality of life for everyone in Vallejo.”

Sen. Dodd’s Elder Abandonment Legislation Clears Senate

SACRAMENTO – Elder abuse prevention legislation from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, that was inspired by the abandonment of seniors at two Santa Rosa assisted living centers during the 2017 wildfires passed the Senate today by unanimous vote.

Senate Bill 314 adds “abandonment” to the list of offenses eligible for enhanced civil remedies under the Elder Abuse and Dependent Adult Civil Protection Act.

SACRAMENTO – A bill from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, that would protect California’s elderly and adults with disabilities from abandonment by caretakers has cleared a key committee. Senate Bill 314, inspired by the abandonment of seniors at two Santa Rosa assisted living facilities in the 2017 wildfires, was unanimously approved by the Senate Judiciary committee Tuesday. It heads next to the Senate floor.

Legislators Announce Tentative Agreement on Sonoma Developmental Center

 ELDRIDGE – Senators Mike McGuire, D-Healdsburg, Bill Dodd, D-Napa, and Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry, D-Winters, announced today a tentative agreement on the Sonoma Developmental Center that will empower neighbors, the community and the County of Sonoma to conduct a comprehensive community planning process focused on the potential future uses of the Sonoma Developmental Center, while also protecting the sacred open spaces of the undeveloped land.
