SACRAMENTO – Gov. Jerry Brown signed legislation from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, to improve In-Home Supportive Services for low-income and disabled people hit by natural disasters including wildfires.

“Even when disaster strikes, we must continue to care for our most vulnerable populations,” Sen. Dodd said. “This new law brings a statewide approach to the challenge and will ensure a continuity of care for the disabled and elderly. Kudos to Gov. Brown for recognizing the need for it.”

SACRAMENTO – Gov. Brown signed legislation Friday from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, that will prevent low-income families from getting their water service terminated.

“Access to water is a fundamental right of all Californians. I thank Gov. Brown for helping to protect it now and for future generations,” Sen. Dodd said. “This new law creates a sustainable and equitable delivery system that will protect vulnerable people including seniors, children and those with illness or disability.”

NAPA – Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, issued the following statement about the first anniversary of the October 2017 Northern California wildfires, which burned more than 150,000 acres in Napa, Sonoma and Solano counties, destroyed an unprecedented number of homes and caused the tragic loss of life:

SACRAMENTO – In recognition of society’s growing dependence on the internet and computer technology – as well as the risks they pose to our finances, identities and privacy -- Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, has passed a resolution designating October as National Cybersecurity Awareness Month in the state of California.

NAPA – Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, will join leaders of the Assembly and Senate insurance committees Oct. 30 in Napa to examine whether homeowners insurance coverage has been sufficient to allow those affected by recent wildfires to rebuild.

SACRAMENTO – Members of California’s Legislative Delta Caucus, including its co-chairs, Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, and Assemblymember Jim Frazier, D-Discovery Bay, sent a letter today to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency objecting to a $1.6 billion loan for construction of the state’s controversial twin tunnels project on the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta known as WaterFix.

SACRAMENTO – In recognition of the critical role the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta plays in California’s economy and environment, the Legislature has passed a resolution from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, designating the second week of September as Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta Watershed Protection Week.

“The Delta is quite simply the lifeblood of our water system throughout the state of California,” Senator Dodd said. “It is so important that we protect it.”

SACRAMENTO – The Legislature has approved a bill from Senator Bill Dodd, D-Napa, that will add “cyberterrorism” to the list of conditions that constitute a state of emergency under the California Emergency Services Act.

“As cyberterrorism becomes more of a threat, it is crucial that we give the governor the tools necessary to defend our state and assist in recovery,” Senator Dodd said. “Clearly, this new scourge has the potential to disrupt our lives and could result in the loss of water, power or essential public safety services.”

SACRAMENTO -- Lawmakers approved a comprehensive wildfire safety plan tonight that will prevent future infernos like those that have been ravaging the state while protecting utility ratepayers from bearing unfair costs.

Senate Bill 901 was approved on votes of 29 to 4 in the Senate and 45 to 10 in the Assembly. It heads next to Gov. Jerry Brown for his signature.
