Wildfire Preparedness Conference Committee Dates Set

August 2, 2018

SACRAMENTO – The next two hearings of the Conference Committee on Wildfire Preparedness and Response will be Aug. 7 and Aug. 9 in the state Capitol’s John L. Burton Hearing Room 4203.

The Aug. 7 hearing begins at 2 p.m. The subject is ensuring a safe and reliable electric grid. The Aug. 9 hearing begins upon adjournment of Senate and Assembly floor sessions. The subject is inverse condemnation and electric utilities.

Governor Brown Signs Senator Dodd’s Public Works Bill

SACRAMENTO – A bill from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, that improves counties’ ability to plan and deliver infrastructure projects was signed into law Monday by Gov. Jerry Brown. “It will ensure more timely completion at a higher quality, sparing the public any cost overruns,” Senator Dodd said.

Governor Brown Signs Landmark Privacy Law

SACRAMENTO – A comprehensive internet privacy and data breach protection bill introduced by Senators Bill Dodd, D-Napa, Bob Hertzberg, D-Van Nuys and Assemblymember Ed Chau, D-Monterey Park, passed the Senate and Assembly on Thursday and was signed into law by Gov. Jerry Brown. Adoption of the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 was followed by the withdrawal of a ballot measure seeking the same protections that would have cost California taxpayers millions of dollars.
