Senate Bill 1111 – The Rick Best Safety Act, Signed Into Law by Governor Newsom

SACRAMENTO, CA – Senate Bill 1111- the Rick Best Safety Act, authored by Senator Bob Archuleta (D-Pico Rivera) which requires any trash receptacle larger than 3 feet to have reflective fluorescent taping to increase roadway visibility as they await pickup by waste haulers, was signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom.

Legislation to Prevent Food Insecurity Among Military Families Passes Senate

SACRAMENTO, CA – The California State Senate has passed SB 950, which would require the State Department of Social Services (DSS) to submit a request to the United States Department of Agriculture, on or before December 31, 2023, to waive a federal requirement in order to exclude the Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) for members of a uniformed service from countable income in the calculation of CalFresh eligibility.
