Malibu, CA – The City of Malibu, Senators Fran Pavley and Ben Allen, Assemblymember Richard Bloom, and the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) held a press conference and screened a new video promoting safety on Pacific Coast Highway (PCH), followed by a bicycle safety rodeo for kids on May 8 as part of the multi-agency efforts to improve safety on PCH.

Legislative Update from Sen. Fran Pavley: Injection Wells

SACRAMENTO -- State Sen. Fran Pavley is not letting up on a drive to protect California’s underground drinking-water supplies from contamination.The senator is pushing to redirect a budget proposal that would earmark $3.5 million to fund 23 experts and other technicians from the state oil and gas regulator to the state’s water quality regulators to expedite their evaluation of potential groundwater contamination from oil and gas production.

Governor signs bill to increase transparency in California elections

SACRAMENTO – Governor Jerry Brown signed a bill by Senator Fran Pavley (D-Agoura Hills) on Tuesday to provide more transparent campaign finance information to voters.The bill was developed in collaboration with the California Voter Foundation, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to improving the election process, and supported by Common Cause, the League of Women Voters of California and the California Clean Money Campaign. SB 844 received the near unanimous support of both the Assembly and the Senate.

State Highway Grant Secured to Improve Safety on PCH

MALIBU – The City of Malibu and PCH Taskforce Co-Chairs Senator Fran Pavley (D-Agoura Hills), and Assemblymember Richard Bloom (D-Santa Monica), along with former Co-Chair Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Redondo Beach), announced that they have secured a $124,250 safety corridor grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) in order to improve safety on the notoriously dangerous Pacific Coast Highway/CA-1.

New Public Safety Legislation From Senator Pavley Protects Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Victims

SACRAMENTO – Senator Fran Pavley (D-Agoura Hills) has introduced two bills to address serious public safety issues, particularly for those who have been victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.SB 307 expands the potential use of criminal justice restraining orders when offenders are released to their communities, and SB 507 provides victims with additional protection in cases involving violent sex offenders. Both bills are sponsored by Los Angeles District Attorney Jackie Lacey.
