Rubio Bill Allowing City of Rosemead Access to Local Infrastructure Funds Passes CA Assembly

August 30, 2020

SACRAMENTO, CA – The California Legislature today passed a bill by Sen. Susan Rubio (D-Baldwin Park) that will allow the City of Rosemead to have access to funds for local infrastructure projects that have been unavailable. It now heads to the governor's desk. 

Senate Bill 1307 would allow the City of Rosemead to utilize funding established through the 1919 Lighting District funds for public benefits allowed under 1972 Landscape and Lighting Act.

SACRAMENTO, CA – The State Assembly today passed four bills by Susan Rubio (D-Baldwin Park).

Rubio’s Bill to Aid Domestic Violence Service Providers Passes Assembly Public Safety

SACRAMENTO, CA – The Assembly Public Safety Committee passed a bill on Wednesday by Sen. Susan Rubio (D-Baldwin Park) that will help ensure domestic violence services are accessible amid COVID-19.

Senate Bill 1276 will remove the 10 percent cash or in-kind matching requirement for state grants awarded to domestic violence programs that provide essential resources.

Senator Rubio Selects La Puente Student for College Scholarship

SACRAMENTO, CA – Senate Susan Rubio today announced that a City of La Puente student was awarded a $5,000 scholarship through the California Latino Legislative Caucus Foundation (CLLCF). 

Senator Rubio selected Areli Patino as one of this year’s recipients. Areli will be attending the University of California, Los Angeles.

California Senate Unanimously Passes Senator Rubio Bill  Increasing Domestic Violence Protections

Susan Rubio (D-Baldwin Park) that would expand protections for domestic violence survivors by allowing them to describe psychologically damaging and abusive behavior as supporting evidence in family court hearings and criminal trials.

Senator Susan Rubio Praises Gov. Newsom for Executive Order Supporting Domestic Violence Victims

SACRAMENTO, CA – Senator Susan Rubio (D-Baldwin) today praised Gov. Gavin Newsom for issuing an executive order that makes it easier for domestic violence shelters, which provide life-saving emergency services for victims, to receive state funds during this pandemic.

The governor’s order waives the 10% matching state requirement that shelters need to reach in order to receive state funding.

Senate Judiciary Committee Approves Rubio Bill Expanding Protections for Domestic Violence Survivors

SACRAMENTO, CA – The Senate Judiciary Committee today unanimously approved a bill by Sen. Susan Rubio (D-Baldwin Park) that would expand protections for domestic violence survivors by allowing coercive control to be used as psychological harm in domestic violence proceedings.
