Governor Brown Signs Senator Hueso’s Tijuana River Valley Legislation

San Diego, CA – October 9, 2017 – Senator Ben Hueso (D-San Diego) is proud to announce that his legislation, Senate Bill 507: Tijuana River Valley, was signed into law Friday by Governor Brown. The law, which became effective immediately upon Governor Brown’s signature, reallocates $2.1 million for development at and restoration of the Tijuana River Valley.

Governor signs Wieckowski's ADU housing bill

Sacramento – Yesterday, following up on a major reform bill from last year that streamlined the development of accessory dwelling units (ADUs), Governor Jerry Brown signed SB 229, legislation by Senator Bob Wieckowski (D-Fremont) to clarify that limits on sewer and water connection fees and charges apply to special districts and water corporations, as well as cities and counties. 

Last year, Wieckowski, a member of the Senate Transportation and Housing Committee, successfully authored SB 1069 to eliminate the most onerous barriers to the construction of ADUs.

Los Angeles –  On World Homeless Day, Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) and Assemblywoman Blanca E. Rubio (D-Baldwin Park) will hold a hearing on the high level of youth homelessness in California, and what the state should be doing to get young people off the street. **Emergency Alert** Napa & Sonoma County Fire Evacuations

Dear Neighbor,

This morning, Governor Brown issued an emergency proclamation for Napa and Sonoma Counties due to the effects of multiple fires, including the Tubbs and Atlas fires, which have damaged critical infrastructure, threatened thousands of homes and caused the evacuation of residents.

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by the fires. Like so many of our neighbors, I was forced to evacuate my home this morning, and I will be monitoring the status of these fires closely.

Governor Signs Bill by Senator Hill Requiring Commercial Bus Drivers and Passengers to Buckle Up in Vehicles Equipped with Safety Belts

Governor Brown signed legislation by Senator Jerry Hill that requires the driver and passengers in commercial buses equipped with seat belts to wear the safety devices, making California is the first state to follow the National Transportation Safety Board’s 2015 recommendation that all states to put laws requiring seat belts on commercial buses to be worn by passengers as well as drivers.
