SACRAMENTO, CA — Last night, legislation authored by Senator Sydney K. Kamlager (D - Los Angeles), aimed at reducing barriers to police accountability, was signed into law by Governor Newsom. After a year of protests against police violence, the signing of AB 127 is a milestone in California’s work to reform the criminal justice legal system.

SACRAMENTO - Sen. Susan Rubio today released the following statement in response to the passage of Budget Act of 2021:  

“Today I proudly voted for a state budget that maximizes unprecedented surpluses, while keeping our sight on true fiscal responsibility. After maintaining healthy reserves, we made a historic increase to education of $93.7 billion, $12 billion to tackle the housing and homelessness crisis, as well as relief for small businesses. These are all critical investments that are needed throughout California, and especially in the San Gabriel Valley.

SACRAMENTO – The California Legislature approved a record budget tonight to increase per student funding to historic levels, provide over $8 billion in direct relief to people earning up to $75,000 a year, invest $3 billion in a drought relief package and expand financial assistance to small businesses. The budget also includes key funding for several local projects, including funds to upgrade the I-680/Mission Boulevard interchange, the site of several accidents in recent years.
