Nearly half of California's legislature signs on to move urgent bill forward - divesting state funds from Russia

Sacramento, CA – Since announcing plans Monday to introduce legislation to divest state public funds from Russia and Russian-state entities following the unprovoked war against Ukraine, an overwhelming show of support has poured in resulting in nearly half of all legislators in California signing on to coauthor the bill. 

SB 1328 requires public pensions systems – including the two largest in America, STRS and PERS – to divest from Russian and Belarusian assets and companies.

Hertzberg Announces New Blockchain Legislation Creating “California Trust Framework”

With new legislation announced Friday, California could soon lead the nation with blockchain-based credentialing. Senate Majority Leader Emeritus Bob Hertzberg (D-Van Nuys) introduced a bill to establish the California Trust Framework to provide industry best standards for implementing blockchain use in credentialing. The bill also launches a five-year pilot to use blockchain technology in California schools for sharing student transcripts with community colleges.

San Fernando Valley Receives $21 Million for Beautification Projects

Caltrans announced $21.3 million in funding for highway beautification projects across the San Fernando Valley as part of Governor Gavin Newsom’s Clean California initiative.
