SACRAMENTO: Senator Anna M. Caballero (D-Merced) successfully secured $10 million to fund essential infrastructure needs in the rural, agricultural west side areas of Fresno County. She will spend the day in each city receiving funding to tour the future facility sites.

SACRAMENTO – With the Covid-19 pandemic exacerbating the wide chasm between rich and poor Californians, State Senator Bob Wieckowski (D-Fremont) has introduced new legislation designed to help low-wage workers keep more of their paychecks in wage garnishment cases.

Atkins (D-San Diego) today announced she has introduced SB 1041, legislation that would make permanent the sales tax exemption for the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS) and other qualifying organizations that provide financial, educational, and other assistance to members of the Armed Forces of the United States, their family members, and survivors.

Senator Josh Becker announced legislation today to extend California’s Universal Meals funding – which will soon make free breakfast and lunch available to all public school students – to state-licensed daycare providers so they also can provide free meals to children who are too young to attend school. “California’s youngest children cannot be left out of our state’s groundbreaking meals policy to tackle food insecurity among learners,” he said.

Sacramento, CA - State Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – La Cañada Flintridge) joined Senator Tom Umberg to announce the introduction of Senate Bill 986, a measure that combats catalytic converter theft by requiring dealers to apply a vehicle identification number (VIN) to the catalytic converter of each vehicle listed for sale.  Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón and LAPD Chief Michel Moore joined Senators Portantino and Umberg today during a press conference to announce the bill.
